Cooking as a Project: Doing Your Part

To cook is to live as food is to eat right? But everyone is not fortunate to be able to cook or eat.  Cooking as a project is fundamental especially for the unfortunate who just don’t have the means.  It gives a person a physical sense of physical and emotional well being.  When someone cooks as a project, they’re basically helping someone in need.  You can cook for a group of people in a homeless shelter.   It seems to be a tradition that during the holidays that a lot of spiritual organizations and church missions get out and cook for others and a deed of service.  They take on a project when they find someone in need.  If you know of someone in need , it could be a neighbor or co-worker, you too can take on that project and cook.  It’s out of service to help out our brother or sister…you never know because by you helping out someone else your really just helping yourself.  I give great pleasure in cooking as a project, whether for my family or someone in need. 

“Cooking as a Project” can be an organization that forms on a designated day of the week to go out and feed people in need.  It’s our gift to them to bring some joy to them.  Providing a full course meal to a family will be a blessing to them. This organization can be formed to not only cook but minister as well and have social support classes to assist those who need a helping hand.  It will not only help that individual, but also draw other families who may be near and need assistance as well.  We can schedule to meet, then follow up with a phone call to ensure they are well and maintaining the support that was given to them.  If there are any other assistance that is needed it can be discussed in the support group meeting that will be confidential to those attending the group session. 

“Cooking as a Project” will set up programs in the community and in local schools to help out. We will try and involve the children to assist us, in which it will instill in them good work ethics in helping and aiding an individual.  There can be a school program in the lunch area where we bring extra food and offer free meals.  We can offer a plan of selecting a family every week to buy groceries for them.  These programs will emphasizes the needs of the families that we need to pay attention to and help.  We will also follow up with them weekly just to check status. For the students there will be story telling and tutorial and afterwards they will enjoy a healthy meal that has been cooked for them.  This program will continue to recruit families and individuals that need a healthy meal cooked for them.    Remember we are “Cooking to live, because it is a project.
